            2bular VX 220/Opel Speedster n/a & Turbo

VX TURBO 3” System:

My 3” bore system for the turbo VX’s; this will maximise any gains to be had from tuning this motor.

After re-mapping this gives excellent power and incredible torque. The large-bore presents minimal back-pressure to the turbo and with the slower gas-speed (compared to a 2.5” system), the noise levels are better controlled. I use a proper race-style, merge collector at the tailpipe end, better flow, better control.

The 100Cell Race Cats are the largest on the market for these cars. The flange fitting, carried over from my Elise/Exige systems allows easy swap-out for a De-Cat pipe, if needed.

PRICES:

3” Downpipe/Flexy section...............£423 + EU Vat = £497:03

100 Cell Race Cat................................£295 + EU Vat = £346:63

3” bore System with 7”dia x 24”.......£450 + EU Vat = £528:75

Shipping to UK mainland (2 cartons) £30 + EU Vat = £35:25

A little side-step into the VX world! I’ve had a look at what’s on offer for these cars and reckon there’s room for a quality, Straight-Thru system with a larger bore.  As usual, I can tailor the noise levels to suit, with a large 7”dia silencer for reasonable dbs, down to VSE size if it’s NOISE you want.

I’m very grateful to Mark Verboom for encouraging me into developing this exhaust and can only refer you to his excellent site for all the info you might need!

With this size of engine, I’ve gone for the 7”dia silencer to keep noise levels low but you can specify a smaller size if you like. Although the bore is larger than std (or the Milltek), I’ve made sure my system can bolt to either Cat pipe.

Just a thought, but if you already have a 100Cell Sports Cat,  I can adapt it to suit my downpipe and you can swap in/out my De-Cat pipe. POA

            2bular VX220 n/a and Supercharged header/manifolds:

                                                  2bular VX 4-1 header

I've completed the work on the prototype 4-1 header for the Supercharged install first because it's a very much larger bore than the 4-2-1 n/a design, and I figured if I can squeeze this in, the n/a will follow!

The Supercharged installs will be pushing 300bhp, so this means a large bore, stepped header finishing in a 3” bore system. The pic shows a Silenced De-Cat instead of the Sports Cat.

The 4-2-1 header is a stepped design too, which can cover installs up to 250bhp. This finishes in a 2.5” bore system. Pics of this soon.

Features:

Both designs have a split-flange at the head joint. This makes it easier to fit the header sections without removing the clam. Also, there's no need to cut into the boot – don't need that hassle!

Now I've looked at the designs available for these cars. I will only say this; if you're going to fit a performance header/manifold on the n/ a cars, it has to have a reasonable length on the primaries and a good length on the secondaries, in other words, it must be a 4-2-1 design. A short 4-1 would be of benefit for say, a Supercharged install but on an n/a car ……………………………?

With any mid-engined exhaust install, space is at a premium. On these designs, there simply isn't room for a flexy section. I only use race-style merge collectors on my headers. They're held by springs and this feature allows for heat expansion (of the highest importance!) and engine movement.

I cannot stand the bashed bits of tin and MIG-welding other manufacturers use.

Merge collectors work, they impose a discipline on the manufacturer. The primaries must run together, they must be parallel – the finished product looks good, a real race-style look.

PRICES:

The 4-2-1 header/manifold ……………………………£652 + EU Vat = £766.10

The 4-1 Supercharger header ……………………..P.O.A!   Not sure on the demand for these and that large, 4-1 merge collector is expensive!!
