I took some legal advice last year after being threatened by a couple of Australian businessmen. My lawyer called their threats "extortion" and advised me that as a micro-business, with the new UK consumers act coming into force and it being seriously biased against small businesses like mine, I needed to set out my Warranty/Guarantee page with laser-like definition. Much as it pains me to do this, it seems the world is becoming increasingly litigious and I have to protect myself and my business.
Track use: track use is ABUSE. Don't kid yourself that you have bought a racing car!
USE OF THE VEHICLE ON TRACK OR IN A COMPETITIVE MANNER IS NOT ENDORSED BY LOTUS.
PARTICIPATION IN ANY TRACK/COMPETITIVE USE WILL INVALIDATE THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY.
If the manufacturer of your car tells you this, I can certainly tell you the same.
I build exceedingly robust exhausts but I will not be held liable if you burn/blow out/break your exhaust during track use. IF YOU TRACK THE CAR, YOUR 2BULAR WARRANTY IS VOID.
Catalysers: I use the German manufacturer, HJS products. Supreme quality specified by all the World's supercar builders. Cats are extremely sensitive to over-fuelling - and track use, with large on/off throttle openings will throw raw fuel down the exhaust - seen enough flame-throwers in my time but at least HJS use a very clever design feature to hold the substrate in position if over-heating occurs. 2bular will not be held liable for any damage caused by over-fuelling/over-heating.
If you have a mapping session booked, you MUST emphasise to the operator that the catalyser needs to cool down between runs. It is positioned out of the air-flow and is vulnerable to over-heating.
Systems: With Lotus using basic, virtually rigid exhaust mounts, the exhaust system is under constant stress from engine/transmission movement, so I strongly advise you to fit uprated engine/transmission mounts. The Yellow Powerflex option is very popular and has minimal effect on NVH. They will also improve the gear-change(!). If you spin off, the resulting engine deflection will possibly bend/break the hanger rods - I won't be held responsible for your driving.
NOISE: I AM A CUSTOM EXHAUST MANUFACTURER, I OFFER DIFFERENT SILENCERS TO GIVE DIFFERENT EXHAUST NOTES. IT IS UP TO YOU TO DECIDE WHICH OPTION YOU CHOOSE!
EXHAUST NOISE APPRECIATION IS SUBJECTIVE - FIND SOMEONE WITH THE EXHAUST YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT, LISTEN TO THEIR CAR - IT'S YOUR CHOICE. MY RECOMMENDATION IS ONLY THAT - A RECOMMENDATION.
WITH RACETRACKS WORLDWIDE PLACING NOISE RESTRICTIONS ON THEIR USE, IT HAS BECOME NECESSARY TO BUILD QUIETER EXHAUSTS. I SPEND A LOT OF TIME ENSURING 2BULAR CAN HELP TO MEET THESE DB LIMITS.
HOWEVER, I DO NOT GUARANTEE TO MEET ANY TRACK NOISE LIMIT, ANYWHERE!
Fitment of a 2bular manifold (header) and/or 2bular aftermarket catalyser MAY trigger a CEL (check engine light). Unfortunately, the Lotus ECU is EXTREMELY sensitive to changes to the emissions control hardware. With a manifold(header) change, you are STRONGLY advised to address the revised fuelling requirements caused by these changes - that is YOUR responsibility.
YOU ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO FIT NEW PRE AND POST-CATALYSER LAMBDA SENSORS WHEN YOU FIT A NEW CATALYSER. IT DEPENDS FOR ITS LIFE ON THE EFFICIENT WORKING OF THE 1ST LAMBDA SENSOR.
In no event shall Tubular Technik Ltd (trading as 2bular exhausts) be held liable for any incidental, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages for any loss of profits, related expenses, goodwill, use or other intangible losses including negligence of other parties. Do not present me with an invoice for any unauthorised work carried out by a 3rd party. E.G. I WON'T PAY 619 :00 AUD TO RELOCATE A LAMBDA BOSS (10 min job).
If you live in Australia and you use Simply Sports Cars of Artarmon NSW 2064 to fit your 2bular exhaust - your warranty is VOID - can't get more laser-like than that! Use Hi-Tech Mufflers at NSW 2010.
REFUNDS & RETURNS:
Unwanted goods for return must be notified to us in writing within 3 days of receipt. We reserve the right to refuse returns if notified outwith this period.
The cost of returning the goods safely to us is your responsibility.
Goods must be returned in a re-saleable condition. Where goods are alleged to be defective, the purchaser agrees to return such goods for inspection and report.
Damaged goods due to your negligence will not be accepted for refund.
All requests will be processed after we have inspected and verified the condition of the product. Returns take approximately seven business days to process upon receipt of the item.
